What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a paid job within a company where you gain experiences and skills. Alongside on-the-job training, you’ll spend at least six hours of your working week completing online or classroom-based learning with a college, university or training provider.
Apprenticeships in video games
Apprenticehips in games are for the moment, few and far between. There is a Level 7 apprenticeship which requires post-degree level training to access, as well as a Level 7 in Tech Art. There are a handful of studios that run these on an adhoc basis, but generally, there is not a large takeup for this route at entry-level at present. The only regular apprenticeship provider is the Sumo Digital Academy, which take a cohort of apprentices annually.
