About the opportunity

Aimee Parker is a Sustainability Consultant with a passion for turning good intentions into real climate action. Over the last 20 years, she has worked across the voluntary and community sector, founding and leading organisations like Green Caerleon and Blossom Africa, and gaining wide-ranging experience in coordination, facilitation, and project delivery. More recently, she has brought this expertise into the film and TV industry as a Sustainability Coordinator, helping productions embed meaningful, practical sustainability measures. Aimee's approach is pragmatic, hands-on, and optimistic, showing how skills from one sector can open unexpected doors in another. Workshop Outline This workshop explores how diverse skills and experiences can lead into the film and TV industry, using Aimee's own career journey as a case study. Students will learn how transferable skills from voluntary and community work, such as leadership, organisation, facilitation, and problem-solving, are directly relevant in creative industries. The session also introduces the role of a Sustainability Coordinator, explaining what it involves day-to-day, why sustainability is increasingly important in screen production, and how young people can start developing skills for future green roles. The aim is to inspire students to think creatively about their own career paths and recognise the value of their existing experiences.
