Inside Framestore’s Immersive Experience Workshop
Framestore’s Immersive Experience Workshop introduced young people to career opportunities within the visual effects, games and animation sectors and helped them to explore future industry pathways.
By the Creative Careers Collective
In November 2025, Framestore launched its Immersive Experience Workshop in London, UK, a special initiative targeting students in Years 7-13. The goal was simple: introduce young people to the incredible career opportunities waiting for them in the visual effects (VFX), games, and animation sectors. Over the course of three months, the workshop brought together industry professionals, interactive activities, and practical employability guidance to help participants confidently explore their future pathways.
Framestore designed this workshop with a clear mission to support young talent. The company's team focused on increasing general awareness of varied career opportunities across the industry while actively busting common creative tech myths and stereotypes. The workshop coordinators also worked to improve the students' overall understanding of education and training pathways, helping them see the actual routes into these professions. Beyond sector knowledge, the workshop was crafted to develop essential employability skills, build student confidence, raise personal aspirations, and directly connect young people with real employers and industry role models.
The sessions featured a packed schedule of practical, hands-on activities. Framestore kicked things off with an industry insights session, introducing students to the world of visual effects, specific job roles, key skills, routes into the field, and educational pathways. Next came the creative challenge, a teamwork exercise where students jumped in to deliver against a real-world creative brief. Each team followed structured steps to design their very own immersive experience, ranging from cutting-edge VR/AR concepts to thrilling escape rooms and theme park rides. To simulate real studio life, the teams then took part in the big pitch, presenting their final ideas directly to a Framestore client. The facilitators wrapped up the experience by providing tailored feedback to each team and sharing specialized resources to help them pursue their creative interests long after the workshop ended.
Interest in the programme was incredibly high. What started as a focused workshop ultimately rolled out to 13 schools and colleges over a three-month period. In total, Framestore reached just over 300 young people, successfully sparking new creative interests and opening doors to future careers.
