Case Study: Stanley Arts The rationale behind Stanley Arts’ involvement in Discover! Creative Careers Week 2024 was to utilise our core resource/offer (our historic building and the space it provides) to reach as many young people as possible.
Case Study: BAGGI BAGGI ran a half day workshop for year 12 design/graphics students that was a mixture of practical, theoretical and team-based exercises, covering areas such as what makes an effective brand, how to approach and interrogate a brief, the process and roles within a creative agency, and a brand quiz. Finally, teams were set a brief to tackle and present their ideas to the rest of the group.
Case Study: HEY Creative HEY Creative spearheaded activity in Hull & East Yorkshire for Discover! Creative Careers Week 2024. This was the first time the region as a whole had engaged in the programme, and as well as an awareness campaign, HEY Creative hosted 11 showcase events covering a range of artistic disciplines and creative careers that were connected to particular school priorities.
Case Study: Middlesex University The department of Design Engineering and Mathematics at Middlesex University opened their doors to year 12 students from The London Academy to share their courses, state-of-the-art facilities, and the breadth of career possibilities that can stem from Design and Engineering degrees.
Case Study: H & ME Creations and Maple Medical PRU Maple Medical PRU in Doncaster and H&ME Creations, a mother and daughter creative craft company, created an inspiring event for Discover! Creative Careers Week 2024 for pupils with a range of needs from mental health challenges to physical impairments and neurodiversity.
Case Study: SO Festival An incredible line-up of industry professionals joined the Discover! Creative Careers Day at The Embassy Theatre in Skegness for 2024. The goal of the event was to ignite inspiration in aspiring creatives, showcasing the wide range of careers within the Creative Industries and the many pathways available.
Case Study: Coventry Cultural Education Partnership Coventry Cultural Education Partnership (CCEP) hosted a dynamic creative careers event tailored specifically for Key Stage 3 students. This collaborative initiative between arts and cultural organisations aimed to broaden students' perspectives on the diverse and exciting career opportunities available within the creative industry.
Case Study: Martin Rose Illustration Freelance illustrator and printmaker Martin Rose works both from home and his studio space and he wanted to offer something very specific for Discover! Creative Careers Week; he wanted to find a neurodivergent student from a mainstream college, who may otherwise have been overlooked or not found a suitable placement for their desired career.
Case Study: Abbs Cross School Discover! Creative Careers Week at Abbs Cross Academy was organised by Patrik Michalopoulos, Head of Art & Design at Abbs Cross Academy and a former Careers Lead. Patrik brought together his experience in Careers and the Arts to organise a week of events at Abbs Cross Academy reflecting the school’s commitment to the Arts. Activities included a creative pathways assembly, workshops with young early career architecture professionals and a teachers’ CPD retreat workshop.
Case Study: Create Studios Based in Swindon’s Heritage Action Zone, Create Studios is a hub for digital and cultural innovation in the heart of Swindon. Read about their experience for Discover! Creative Careers Week collaborating with some external workshop facilitators based in the local creative industries and education sector to offer hands-on workshops in a range of creative subsectors.
