Summary

Newcastle-based charity, New Writing North is a writing and reading development agency for the North of England. It promotes and develops writing and reading in the North of England by commissioning new work, creating development opportunities and more. Chief executive Claire Malcolm talks about why she enjoys working in the arts, what she loved about going to university and the kinds of people that organisations like New Writing North want to hire.

Ice-breaker questions

  • What work does New Writing North do, and who do they work with?
  • What would Claire like to see in a job application from someone who hasn't gone to university?
  • Why is it valuable to have people of different ages and from different backgrounds working within the arts?
