Discover! Creative Careers Week
13th - 17th November 2023
Help us to inspire the next generation by opening your doors (virtually or in person!) to local school pupils and their teachers, providing insight and inspiration on how to forge a career in the creative industries.
This national event is an opportunity for your organisation to demonstrate the variety of roles and pathways available within your industry. You can either host an in person event such as a tour, workshop or talk, or run a similar online event. Industry hosts will receive a support pack with advice on shaping their Discover! event and guidance on working with young people. There are also plenty of other ways to support the programme such as joining our series of monthly industry insight events or featuring in one of our workplace films - simply sign up and we'll be in touch.
Discover! Creative Careers week is part of the award-winning, industry led initiative that directly addresses some of our most urgent challenges and risks around skills shortages within the creative economy – a challenge that must be tackled together to ensure our sector continues to thrive. Interaction with industry is vital in this - evidence shows that young people who are exposed to real workplaces and their associated job roles and functions, are much more confident and informed about making future career choices.
Past employers who have been involved include National Trust, Pinewood Studios, Northern Ballet & Phoenix Dance Theatre, Channel 4, Norwich Theatre Royal, Birmingham Museums Trust, Cockpit Arts, the Financial Times, Kudos TV, The National Archives, xsite Architecture, Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Colston Hall, Burberry and Hachette Publishing, plus many more.
