Hosting young people for work experience is key to creating the awareness, confidence and networks that can kickstart early careers and help break down some of the barriers to entering our industry. We know that to offer these opportunities is not without its challenges, and so as part of the Creative Careers Programme we have partnered with Speakers for School’s NextGen supported work experience programme to make hosting work experience easy to do.
S4SNextGen can help you to create meaningful work placements for young people from state schools who would not otherwise have access to these opportunities. You may already have an existing programme that you would like to develop or grow, or you could be completely new to hosting work experience. S4SNextGen promote opportunities to a wide schools network and provide free tools and resources to support organisations at all stages including:
- Safeguarded recruitment portal
- How-to guides
- Guidance on recruitment
- Models and templates for placements
- Activity ideas
- Best practice insights
S4SNextGen work with over 90 employers of all different sizes, from start-ups and SMEs to large venues. Creative organisations hosting work experience through S4SNextGen include the National Portrait Gallery, Battersea Arts Centre, Spotify, National Archives, Penguin Random House, V&A, Waugh Thistleton, and Frank PR.

Other ways to continue to engage with the Creative Careers Programme:
- Volunteer as an Enterprise Advisor and work with the Careers and Enterprise Company to share business experience and sector knowledge with a local school
- Deliver a talk in a state school about your own career pathway through an organisation like Speakers for Schools and inspire a young person to follow in your footsteps
